Fontanella is a mobile app that helps users find nearby free public drinking fountains in Rome and open walking navigation to them.
The app asks for access to your device location. Location is used to show nearby public drinking fountains, calculate distance to fountains, help open walking navigation, and check whether you are close enough to submit a “Found it” or “Missing” report.
Your live location is processed on your device for map and distance features. When you submit a fountain report, the app may store the approximate distance from the fountain and GPS accuracy value, but it does not store your exact live location as a personal profile.
If you choose to submit feedback such as “Found it” or “Missing,” the app stores a report in Firebase. A report may include the fountain ID, report type, report date, approximate distance from the fountain, approximate GPS accuracy, and device platform.
The app may use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to create an anonymous user identifier. This is used to limit repeated reports and protect the feedback system from spam. It does not require your name, email address, or account login.
The app may collect limited interaction data related to fountain feedback, such as whether a user reports a fountain as found or missing. This is used for app functionality and to improve the accuracy of fountain information.
The app may store some information locally on your device, such as whether you have seen the onboarding message and fountains you saved as favorites. This local data stays on your device unless you delete the app or clear the app data.
We use information to show nearby drinking fountains, calculate distance and walking time estimates, open navigation, save user preferences, collect fountain status feedback, prevent repeated or abusive feedback reports, and improve app reliability and data quality.
Fontanella may use Firebase, Apple Maps, and Google Maps.
Firebase is used for anonymous authentication and storing fountain feedback reports. Apple Maps or Google Maps may be opened when users choose to start navigation.
These services may process data according to their own privacy policies.
This version of Fontanella does not display advertisements.
We do not sell personal information. Feedback reports may be stored in Firebase so the developer can review fountain status and improve app data quality.
Fountain feedback reports may be kept as long as needed to maintain and improve the accuracy of the app. Favorites and onboarding preferences are stored locally on your device and can be removed by deleting the app.
You can deny location permission, although nearby fountain features may not work correctly. You can also change location permissions in your device settings, delete the app to remove locally stored favorites and preferences, or contact us to request deletion of feedback linked to your anonymous Firebase identifier where technically possible.
Fontanella is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us.
We use reasonable technical measures to protect stored data. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
